Srinagar, Sep 26: The Jammu and Kashmir government has stepped up funding for the development and upgradation of sports infrastructure across the Union Territory, with a focus on strengthening facilities at the district level and providing better opportunities for budding sportspersons.
Under the UT Capex budget, Rs 17.81 crore was allocated to districts across Jammu and Kashmir during 2025-26, of which Rs 11.16 crore had been utilised, according to official data.
According to official data, the Jammu Division received Rs 7.32 crore during 2025-26, of which Rs 5.11 crore had been utilised. The Kashmir Division was allocated Rs 10.56 crore and utilised Rs 6.04 crore during the same period.
In Jammu Division, Jammu district received the highest allocation of Rs 2.33 crore and utilised Rs 1.54 crore. Ramban, with an allocation of Rs 1.16 crore, utilised Rs 1.06 crore, while Doda was allocated Rs 88.32 lakh and spent Rs 51.60 lakh.
Udhampur received Rs 68.49 lakh and utilised Rs 48.63 lakh, while Poonch was allocated Rs 64.25 lakh and utilised Rs 48.61 lakh. Rajouri received Rs 45.46 lakh and spent Rs 27.61 lakh.
In Kashmir Division, Baramulla recorded the highest utilisation, spending the entire Rs 1.80 crore allocated to it. Anantnag was allocated Rs 1.30 crore and utilised Rs 90 lakh, while Budgam received Rs 79.91 lakh and spent Rs 78.70 lakh.
However, some districts recorded relatively low utilisation against their allocations. Kupwara was allocated Rs 2.27 crore but had utilised only Rs 14.30 lakh, while Kulgam received Rs 1.28 crore and utilised Rs 27.56 lakh. Srinagar was allocated Rs 1.19 crore and spent Rs 92.90 lakh.
The figures show that total allocation across J&K increased from Rs 11.05 crore in 2024-25 to Rs 17.81 crore in 2025-26. Utilisation also increased from Rs 8.16 crore to Rs 11.16 crore, though expenditure has not kept pace with the increase in allocation in several districts.
