Panaji: Goa govt has reduced fees for grant and renewal of fitness certificates for older transport vehicles to ease the financial burden on owners while ensuring road safety.The decision, notified by the Directorate of Transport on Wednesday under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, applies to heavy goods and passenger vehicles over 13 years old.Vehicles aged 13–15 years will pay Rs 2,000, those between 15–20 years Rs 5,000, and vehicles above 20 years Rs 10,000.Revision aims to balance affordability for operators with strict checks on roadworthiness of ageing vehicles. Fitness certification remains mandatory to ensure vehicles meet safety and emission standards before operating . The revised fees will take effect from publication in the Official Gazette.
