Rajkot: In Jamnagar, a 17-year-old girl who had come to take her Class 12 exams was allegedly raped by a 32-year-old man, Bharat Bamrotiya.The case came to light after the victim’s 21-year-old brother filed a complaint at the Jamnagar City B Division police station on March 17. Bamrotiya has been booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections 64(2) and 351(3), Sections 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and Section 3(2)(5) of the SC-ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. According to the FIR, the student, a resident of a rural part of Jamnagar district, was targeted on March 16. The accused, who had been in contact with the girl for four days, allegedly forced her into his car and drove her to a deserted spot near the new overbridge at Saat Rasta. It is alleged that he raped her after obscuring the car windows with dark tint. After the crime, the accused allegedly fled the scene, leaving the girl behind. Despite the trauma, she took her exam and later returned home by bus. When her family noticed the injury marks on her neck, she told them what had happened. Police arrested Bamrotiya on March 18 and produced him in court, which sent him to judicial custody. As part of the investigation, police have seized the car, clothes and mobile phone allegedly used during the crime.
