Kanpur: Rawatpur police are yet to make a breakthrough in the murder of a 58-year-old woman who was found dead at her home in Hasanpur, Keshavpuram, about a month ago, though suspicion has centred on her elder son, police commissioner Raghubir Lal said on Wednesday.According to police, the woman, Uma Kushwaha, was allegedly suffocated to death. Her body was found seated on a chair inside the house.A surveillance team examined CCTV footage and analysed the call detail records (CDRs) of family members’ mobile phones, narrowing its suspicion to the woman’s elder son, Amrish.Officials said that during questioning, Amrish would occasionally admit involvement in the incident but later retract his statements. At one point, he allegedly told investigators, “Sir, please get my narco test done.”An examination of the Google search history on his mobile phone allegedly revealed searches related to destroying evidence after a murder.Police said Amrish’s mobile phone location placed him at the house during the afternoon when the murder allegedly took place.Two messages from a mobile service provider were also received on his phone during that period, police said.Investigators are also relying on his call detail records, movements, conversations and their duration, as well as statements from several people, including his wife, as part of the evidence being examined in the case.
