Times News NetworkKanpur: One Kaif (23), a resident of Siwan in Bihar, was sent to jail on Tuesday on charges of pressuring a 14-year-old Class 9 student from Gujaini to convert her religion. The girl’s father had lodged a police complaint against him.The daughter of a private firm employee had left home with her belongings without informing anyone on Monday evening and reached Central Station, where Kaif was waiting for her.Activists of Hindu organisations searching for the girl reached the railway station after learning about her disappearance and found her with Kaif. They allegedly beat him and handed him over to the Rail Bazaar police.As a missing person report had been registered at Gujaini police station, the Rail Bazaar police handed over the girl and Kaif to Gujaini police.DCP (South) Deependra Nath Chaudhary on Tuesday said that the girl’s statement was recorded at the police station before she was produced before the Child Welfare Committee. Kaif was subsequently sent to jail.
