Gaya: District magistrate Shashank Shubhankar on Wednesday ordered withholding of salaries of six hospital and health managers at Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH) after finding poor cleanliness and other deficiencies during an inspection.The DM also sought explanations from the officials and directed the hospital administration to ensure visible improvement in all arrangements within 10 days, warning of departmental action if the shortcomings were not rectified.During the inspection, Shubhankar reviewed cleanliness, waterlogging, lighting, availability of medicines, medical facilities, quality of food served to patients and attendance of doctors in various wards.Rainwater was found accumulated at the hospital’s main entrance. The DM directed the agency of Bihar Medical Services and Infrastructure Corporation Ltd (BMSICL) to ensure immediate drainage of water and installation of paver blocks around the entrance. He also instructed the hospital administration to identify and rectify all deficiencies on priority.Shubhankar ordered officials to identify waterlogging-prone areas on the campus and prepare a permanent solution. He further directed installation of additional lights at dark spots within seven days.The DM also asked the sadar SDO and city DSP to launch a special drive against private ambulances parked on the hospital premises and take action as per rules.During the inspection of the neonatal OPD, he reviewed medicines being prescribed to children and assessed the quality of food being served to patients. He sought details of medicines available at the hospital and those prescribed from outside, which patients were forced to purchase from private stores.The inspection comes amid efforts by the district administration to improve healthcare services and patient facilities at the state’s premier government medical institution.
