Patna: A block supply officer was arrested by the Vigilance Bureau on Wednesday for allegedly accepting a bribe from a public distribution system (PDS) dealer at Naubatpur block in Patna district.The accused, identified as Vinod Kumar Ram, was caught red-handed while allegedly accepting Rs 10,000 from the dealer on the premises of the Naubatpur block-cum-CO office. The arrest took the number of cases registered at the Vigilance police station this year to 100.According to Vigilance officials, Krishna Kant Kumar, a PDS dealer from Bara village, had lodged a complaint alleging that the officer was demanding Rs 8,000 every month in the name of conducting audits.Vigilance DSP Aditya Raj said the bureau carried out a preliminary verification of the allegations and found the complaint to be genuine. A trap was then laid to catch the accused.As part of the operation, the complainant handed over the demanded money to the officer. The Vigilance team immediately intervened and arrested him while he was allegedly accepting the bribe.Officials recovered the bribe amount and began questioning the accused. Investigators are also examining other aspects of the case and the circumstances surrounding the alleged demand for money. Further legal action is being taken by the Vigilance Bureau.
