Vadodara: The Ganesh processions passed off peacefully amid tight security in the city on Friday. Thousands of cops were deployed in different areas to ensure peaceful Ganesh immersion processions. The communally sensitive areas in the old city were turned into a fort with the police as well as rapid action force (RAF) guarding almost every road.The Ganesh processions began in the evening with thousands of idols being immersed in 11 artificial tanks made across the city. Most Ganesh idols were immersed in the huge artificial tank made in Navlakhi compound. “The processions were peaceful and there was no untoward incident,” said a police officer.Late in the evening, the cops, central reserve police force and state reserve police force personnel were also seen patrolling on foot. Apart from the drones, policemen with body-worn cameras were moving around in the processions to record all the happenings. While the devotees danced to the music in the Ganesh processions till late in the night.
