Daltonganj: Five unauthorised health facilities operating near MMCH Daltonganj were ordered to be sealed on Friday following a surprise inspection led by Palamu DC Dilip Pratap Singh Shekhawat, sources said.The facilities, including four pathological sample-collection centres and a clinic, were found operating in violation of the Clinical Establishment Act.Civil surgeon Dr Anil Kumar Srivastava, who accompanied the DC during the inspection, said the collection centres lacked adequate space, trained staff and valid registration. “There was hardly any space for patients to wait, and the centres had no legal documents showing a tie-up with a licensed diagnostic laboratory,” he said.The centres were also found to have inadequate arrangements for the collection, storage and handling of blood, urine and other pathological samples. Bio-medical waste management was another major concern, sources said.The clinic was sealed for failing to produce documentary proof of registration under the Act, the civil surgeon said.Asked whether the presence of unauthorised centres near MMCH reflected poorly on senior health officials, Shekhawat said such lapses were a matter of concern and warned that no one would be allowed to violate health regulations with impunity.
