Ramgarh: A legal awareness programme on cybercrime and digital safety was held at Ramgarh civil court on Friday under the guidance of principal district and sessions judge-cum-district legal services authority chairperson Md Taufiqul Hassan.DLSA secretary Anil Kumar said the programme aimed to educate citizens, students and legal professionals about online financial fraud, identity theft and safe internet practices. He said cyber awareness was as important as legal awareness in the digital era and stressed taking digital literacy to the last person in society.Kumar directed para-legal volunteers to visit remote areas and explain ways to avoid cyber fraud, preventing innocent people from falling victim to fraudsters.Cyber police station sub-inspector Digambar Pandey shared cautionary information on digital security and technical vulnerabilities. He said “awareness was the strongest shield against unknown digital criminals.”Pandey explained that cybercriminals psychologically deceive people by creating fear or urgency through fake lotteries, govt schemes, electricity bill updates and RTO challans. He warned youths and students against sharing or renting their bank accounts. He cited recent cases in which innocent people’s accounts were used to transfer defrauded money from other states, unknowingly landing account-holders in legal trouble.
