Buxar: Police have solved the kidnapping of a youth for a ransom of Rs 50,000 in Buxar district, rescuing the victim and arresting five alleged kidnappers. One accused remains absconding, and raids are underway to nab him.The victim, Ravi Yadav, was rescued from the Bikramganj area in neighbouring Rohtas district on Friday. The operation was carried out by a special team led by Dumraon SDPO Polast Kumar.According to the SDPO, Sunny Kumar, a resident of Kukurbhukka village under Vasudeva police station, lodged a complaint on Aug 12 stating that his brother Ravi Yadav had been kidnapped. The kidnappers later contacted the family and allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 as ransom.Acting on the instructions of the Buxar SP, police formed a special team and launched an investigation using technical and human intelligence. Based on the leads gathered, the team traced the victim’s location and rescued him safely.The arrested accused have been identified as Santosh Kumar, Dhanji Yadav alias Dhanji Singh, Saroj Kumar alias Saroj Yadav, Dheeraj Kumar alias Neeraj Paswan, and Nitish Kumar alias Mahendra Kumar.Police said the criminal antecedents of the accused are being verified. During interrogation, the accused allegedly admitted to their involvement in the kidnapping.Preliminary investigation suggests that Ravi Yadav and the accused were allegedly involved in an illegal business together. Police suspect the kidnapping may have been carried out over fears that he could disclose details of their activities. However, investigators said this claim is being independently verified and all angles of the case are being examined.Police recovered four mobile phones from the accused. Further investigation is underway to establish the motive behind the crime and ascertain whether the accused were involved in other criminal activities.
