AKTU

Lucknow: Engineering students of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) who fail the B.Tech first year and seek re-admission in the 2026-27 academic session will shift to the university’s new A-Series course structure, replacing the earlier B-Series curriculum.

AKTU clarified that re-admitted students will follow A-Series not only during the repeated first year but across the remaining duration of their degree programme. Vice-Chancellor Prof JP Pandey said the decision is aimed at bringing re-admitted students under a “uniform and updated academic framework.”

A-Series will be implemented from 2026-27 and is positioned as a more flexible, multidisciplinary and skill-oriented structure. Unlike the largely common first-year pattern under B-Series, the new framework introduces Programme Specific Courses (PSC) and branch-linked learning at an earlier stage.

Under A-Series, students may also be able to take Engineering Science subjects outside their core branch to support multidisciplinary exposure. The updated curriculum places added emphasis on emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, and includes components like Innovation and Design Thinking to promote practical, project-based learning.
