Kanpur: A massive fire broke out in a garment shop in Kanpur’s P Road Market on Sunday. Fortunately no casualty was reported in the incident.As the fire started in a shop in a three-storey building. A family of the four living on the on the second floor of the building got trapped. They noticed smoke as they rushed towards the staircase.The woman Aarti Pandey rushed downstairs with her three-year-old son Atharv. Behind her, her husband Aman came down with his elderly mother Anju Pandey. Aarti said that flames were everywhere and they somehow managed to escapeAman that upon coming downstairs, he saw fire emanating from near the electricity meter of the shop and flames were spreading in all directions. Customers and owners of the adjacent shops ran out. The nearby blanket shop was also being evacuated.CFO Deepak Sharma said that fire brigade vehicles were immediately dispatched to the spot upon receiving the information. “Three vehicles together began the firefighting operation. No casualties were reported in the incident and the fire was prevented from spreading to other shops,” said CFO. According to shop owner Naveen Kukreja, the goods stored in the shop were completely destroyed in the fire.
