The new schedule will mean two Mumbai flights on Wednesday, giving passengers an additional option, particularly during the festive rush. However, the airline will discontinue its Thursday service between Prayagraj and Bhubaneswar. Despite this, the increase in flights to Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad is expected to provide greater choice to passengers travelling during the festival season.Akasa Air, meanwhile, will start daily flights between Prayagraj and Mumbai from Oct 1. At present, there is no Mumbai flight from Prayagraj on Saturday in September. With the new schedule, Saturday will also have a Mumbai connection. From November, however, Akasa will operate the Mumbai service six days a week instead of seven. The increase in air services comes at a time when the railways are also preparing to handle the expected festive-season rush. North Central Railway (NCR) has been introducing and extending special trains on several routes to meet additional demand. NCR has already operated special services from Prayagraj towards destinations such as Mumbai, Yashvantpur, Visakhapatnam, Secunderabad and Delhi, among others, and is expected to announce more services on different routes as passenger demand rises during Dussehra, Diwali and Chhath. However, full details of these special trains will be released by NCR in the coming days.
