Fazilka: A 22-year-old youth from Chakk Sadian village in Fazilka district died while running at a playground on Thursday. The deceased, Baldev Singh, was preparing for recruitment in the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police.He had gone for his routine run at the Rodawali village playground when he suddenly felt dizzy and collapsed. He was rushed to a nearby clinic, where the doctor declared him brought dead.
Baldev’s uncle, Sikandar Singh, said he ran daily at the Rodawali ground as part of his preparation for a govt job. His father had passed away a year ago. His brother serves in the Army, and Baldev lived with his mother in the village.Sikandar said Baldev was actively involved in sports. His friend, Lakhwinder Singh, said Baldev had called him to the playground. By the time he arrived, Baldev had started running. After completing two rounds, he suddenly felt unwell and fainted.PAST INCIDENTSThis was the 3rd such young death in the recent past. A young cricketer, Harjit Singh of Guru Har Sahai town, died on the pitch due to cardiac arrest after hitting a six during a cricket match in Ferozepur district on June 29, 2025.
