Police block farmers in Thithimathi moving for protest in Bidadi

Madikeri: The public suffered hardship in the wake of the sudden protest by farmers in Thithimathi on Friday morning. The farmers were enraged when the police stopped the vehicles heading to Bidadi to participate in the farmers protest against Bidadi township project. When police stopped farmers, agitated members of the farming community blocked the state highway to express their anger.Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha’s Kodagu district unit president Kadyamada Manu Somaiah led farmers to Bidadi in two buses, which the cops at Thithimathi stopped. While farmers travelling in two buses were stopped in Thithimathi town, the police stopped another vehicle of the farmers near Majjige Halla on the Thithimathi-Anechaukur main road and imposed restrictions on them from moving forward.Many leaders, including office bearers of the farmers’ association Chattangada Kamba Cariappa, Puchimada Roy Madappa and Cheppudira Cariappa, participated in the protest. Police personnel, including DSP Mahesh Kumar and Circle Inspectors Shivaraj Mudhol and Anup Madappa, supervised security measures.
