HYDERABAD: Anti-Corruption Bureau’s probe into the disproportionate assets case against suspended deputy superintendent of police S Bheem Reddy has uncovered an alleged network of benamidars, including a former home guard and a watchman, who are suspected to have held properties worth several crores of rupees on his behalf.Investigators reportedly recovered documents linked to around 48 acres of agricultural land in the name of ex-home guard during searches conducted at Bheem Reddy’s residence and other locations.According to ACB sources, the former home guard who worked under Bheem Reddy when he served as DSP of Patancheru about four years ago has emerged as a key benami in the case. “He later resigned from the job and currently runs gold business in Zaheerabad,” an ACB official said.During searches conducted at Bheem Reddy’s native village in Ibrahimbagh and 15 other locations, ACB teams unearthed documents relating to agricultural lands, plots and flats allegedly linked to the officer.Among the properties identified in the former home guard’s name are 3.5 acres of agricultural land in Zaheerabad, six acres of agricultural land and another 38 acres in Karnataka near Zaheerabad. “The market value of those lands would be Rs 15-20 crore,” an ACB source said.Investigators also identified another alleged benami — a watchman who oversees Bheem Reddy’s G+2 penthouse building in Telecom Nagar, Gachibowli, and a few other nearby properties.According to ACB officials, two flats in an apartment complex in Gachibowli are registered in the watchman’s name. He is also responsible for collecting rent from properties allegedly belonging to the DSP in the area. The ACB suspects that several other assets in Mominpet, Tellapur, Patancheru and Muchintala are held in the names of an NRI relative based in the United States, a Mahbubnagar resident allegedly acting as a benamidar, and a city-based couple.“We will summon all the benamis and interrogate them,” an ACB official said.Meanwhile, Bheem Reddy, who reportedly complained of high blood pressure during the ACB raid at his villa in Ibrahimbagh, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad under ACB supervision. The investigation is continuing as officials examine the ownership trail and financial links connected to the properties allegedly amassed by the DSP.
