Hyderabad: Fire officials on Friday conducted a comprehensive fire safety inspection at Chandralok Complex in Secunderabad and found that even the minimum fire safety requirements had not been met.Officials said the nearly 50-year-old building was in a dilapidated condition, with portions showing structural deterioration and plaster peeling off in some areas. The inspection also revealed outdated and hazardous electrical wiring, which authorities said would be brought to the notice of the electricity department for further action.Fire officials pointed out that the building lacked staircases of adequate width for safe evacuation during emergencies. They also noted that the absence of sufficient setback space around the structure could come in the way of fire engines and rescue personnel during firefighting and rescue operations. The fire department warned that failure to address the deficiencies within the stipulated time could result in legal action under the relevant sections of the law. Notices have been issued to the building management in the interest of safeguarding the lives and property of the public.
