TIRUPUR/COIMBATORE: As many as 10,431 electronic voting machines (EVMs) have been dispatched from the warehouse to strong rooms in eight assembly constituencies in Tirupur district under heavy police protection. The first randomisation process was carried out through the Electronic Voting Machine Management System.A total of 3,752 control units, 9,343 ballot units and voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) units are slated to be utilised in the Tirupur district on election day on April 23. Against this backdrop, the voting machines designated for all eight assembly constituencies were verified and dispatched.Following a constituency-wise scanning process, 1,067 machines were allocated to Tirupur South, 1,634 to Tirupur North, 1,372 to Avinashi, 1,776 to Palladam, 1,175 to Kangayam, 1,184 to Dharapuram, 1,088 to Madathukulam and 1,135 to Udumalaipet.Similarly, 13,172 EVMs have been allocated to 10 constituencies of Coimbatore district. This covered a total of 3,563 polling stations in the district. Accordingly, the 4,272 ballot units and control units, each with 20% and 4,628 VVPAT units with 30% reserve, were allocated during the first randomisation process.Kavundampalayam, being the largest constituency, was allocated a total of 2,023 units, Mettupalayam 1,332 units, Sulur 1,424 units, Coimbatore North with 1,252 units, Thondamuthur 1372 units, Singanallur 1,323 units, Coimbatore South 1,045 units, Pollachi 1,039 units, Kinathukadavu 1,394 units and Valparai (SC) 968 units.
