Pune: The Pune Police EOW on Friday arrested a man, Avinash Rathod, accused of duping hundreds of investors of Rs88 crore by promising huge returns on investments in his schemes. A case was registered against Rathod and his wife at the Chatushrungi police station in April 2023. Since then, Rathod has been absconding. A look-out circular (LOC) was issued against him in April 2024. In June this year, a Red Corner Notice was issued to facilitate his arrest from any location. The CBI, in coordination with the ministry of external affairs and the ministry of home affairs, secured Rathod’s deportation from UAE on Thursday.The EOW arrested Rathod on Friday and produced him before a court in Pune, which remanded him to police custody for 10 days.
