Jaisalmer: A 25-year-old woman died by suicide in RP Colony of Jaisalmer city Saturday, about a month before her wedding. The woman, identified as Rekha, was alone at home at the time of the incident, police said.City Kotwal Surjaram Jakhar said Rekha’s father runs a grocery business. At the time of the incident, her brothers went to their shop, while her parents went to Barmer for some work. In the afternoon, when the parents returned from Barmer, they found the house door locked from inside. After calling out and making phone calls for a long time without any response, they suspected something was wrong. With the help of neighbours, the door was broken open. Inside, Rekha was found hanging from a rope tied to a fan hook in a room. Neighbours helped bring her down, and she was taken to Jawahir Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Police took the body into custody and began an investigation. City Kotwal Surjaram Jakhar said the body would be handed over to the family after a post-mortem. A case was registered. Police said Rekha’s engagement took place in Dhanera, Gujarat, 15 days ago. Her wedding was scheduled for April 19, and preparations already began at home. Police said the reasons behind the suicide were not ascertained so far, and no suicide note was found.
