Villagers confronted with Revenue and Police team in Kanpur

Times News NetworkKanpur: Residents of Dipapur village, located in the Narwal police station jurisdiction, on Saturday confronted a revenue and police team that arrived to clear encroachments from the gram samaj land. Women stood in front of the JCB machine, holding bricks in protest.The villagers verbally assaulted the police and revenue officials, engaging in a dispute that lasted approximately three hours. As tensions escalated, the Tehsildar and the SHO arrived with additional police force. The operation proceeded after discussions with the villagers.Narwal SDM Satyapal Prajapati stated that illegal encroachments were occurring on the gram sabha land in Dipapur, and despite previous interventions, construction continued clandestinely. He noted that the removal of encroachments commenced in the presence of the Naib Tehsildar.According to the SDM, some women and villagers obstructed government operations during the enforcement. The Tehsildar and the SHO intervened to restore order. The encroachment removal was successfully completed, and measures were being initiated to file an FIR against those who hindered government work.Despite prohibitions, construction is still being conducted secretly on the gram sabha land, and actions are underway to register an FIR against the obstructors, the SDM said.——eom
