Kanpur: An awareness programme on cyber security will be organised at the Padampat Singhania auditorium, Merchant Chamber of UP, Civil Lines from 5 to 7pm on Thursday to educate people about cyber security. The event is being held by the Information and Technical Committee of the Merchant Chamber of UP. Professor (HAG) Sandeep K Shukla of department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kanpur and newly appointed director of IIIT Hyderabad would address the event as keynote speakers. President, Information and Technical Committee Anil K Saxena and advisor Manu Agarwal stated that the event aims to raise awareness among common citizens, particularly mobile and internet users, on growing threats of cyber crimes, online fraud, identity theft, and digital arrests.Topics to be discussed include practical aspects of cyber security and daily life precautions, real incidents of online fraud, banking fraud and digital tracking, tips to avoid identity theft, OTP fraud, and social media hacking, the methodology of ‘digital arrest’ by law enforcement agencies and citizens’ rights, as well as data privacy and secure behaviour in the digital world. Assistant secretary Pooja Bhatt said that the programme is open for all citizens.
