Thiruvananthapuram: A special fast track court on Thursday sentenced a 65-year-old Muttathara native to seven years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy. The court also noted that the accused was previously convicted of raping a woman with learning difficulties.The sentence was pronounced by special fast track court judge Anju Meera Birla. According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on April 8, 2025. The boy was walking alone when the accused, who was sitting by the roadside, called him. The boy was familiar with the accused as he had earlier visited the boy’s house for work. When the boy approached him, the accused pulled him closer and sexually assaulted him. The accused then threatened the boy and warned him not to reveal the incident to anyone. However, the boy immediately informed his father’s friends who were standing nearby and contacted his father. Soon police were alerted and a case was registered. The man was earlier sentenced for raping a woman with learning disabilities in the bathroom of a wedding hall, where he was working as a watchman. The incident happened in May 2012. The case was investigated by Vanchiyoor sub-inspector Alex C and prosecution was represented by special public prosecutor R S Vijay Mohan and H A Ravi.
