Hampi (Vijayanagara): The historic ruins of Hampi are all set to host the much-awaited Hampi Utsav 2026 from Feb 13 to 15, with elaborate arrangements in place across the Unesco World Heritage site in the district.Chief minister Siddaramaiah is scheduled to inaugurate the 3-day cultural festival on the evening of Feb 13, in the presence of ministers, elected representatives, celebrities, artists, and senior officials.Organised by the state govt and the district administration, this year’s festival is being held with a budget of around Rs 14 to 15 crore. Authorities expect 8 to 10 lakh visitors during the celebrations, making it one of the largest editions in recent years.As many as six grand stages have been erected at key locations, including the main MP Prakash Vedike, Krishnadevaraya Vedike, and the Virupaksha stage, where a range of cultural programmes will be held. The festival will feature classical music and dance recitals, folk performances, theatre shows, cultural processions, rangoli competitions, art exhibitions, and food fairs.Major attraction this year is the large-scale drone show, with 1,000 drones illuminating the night sky with visuals depicting the Stone Chariot, Virupaksha Temple, and prominent rulers of Vijayanagara Empire. Extensive illumination is arranged along Hosapete-Hampi corridor to enhance the festive ambience.
