Patna: East Central Railway (ECR) general manager (GM) Chhatrasal Singh conducted a two-day window trailing inspection across several key routes under the ECR jurisdiction on Friday and Saturday, to assess ongoing infrastructure development works and overall operational efficiency.According to ECR chief public relations officer (CPRO) Saraswati Chandra, the inspection covered the Mokama–Barauni–Samastipur–Darbhanga–Sakri–Jhanjharpur–Loukha Bazar sections, which are considered vital for rail connectivity in north Bihar. During the visit, the GM reviewed the progress of various infrastructure projects, including Amrit Bharat stations being developed at multiple locations under the ECR jurisdiction, he said.In addition, the GM carried out detailed inspections of railway stations, rail bridges, tracks and safety mechanisms along the route. He also evaluated passenger amenities, emphasising the need for improved facilities to ensure a better travel experience, the CPRO said.A key highlight of the inspection was his visit to the Kosi rail bridge, where he reviewed its maintenance and upkeep. He directed officials to maintain high safety standards and ensure regular monitoring of the structure, given its strategic importance, he said.Officials from the Samastipur and Sonepur divisions, who accompanied the GM, briefed him on the status of ongoing works and future plans aimed at strengthening railway infrastructure in the region. The inspection aimed to ensure timely completion of projects and enhance safety, efficiency and passenger convenience across the ECR network, he added.
