Shillong: A district co-ordination meeting of the Incident Response Team (IRT), East Khasi Hills, was held on Wednesday to review the preparedness of all departments and to ensure effective coordination in the event of calamities during the upcoming monsoon season.The meeting was convened at the office of the deputy commissioner-cum-chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) here. It was chaired by DC Rosetta Mary Kurbah, who decided that all departments would undertake pre-monsoon preparedness measures on priority.“These include inspection of flood-prone and landslide-prone areas, as well as assessment of vulnerable trees and electricity lines that may collapse or pose risks during strong winds and heavy rainfall,” an official statement said.
