Varanasi: A police sub-inspector and constable suffered grave injuries in an attack in Parshurampur area under Alinagar police station on Tuesday night. The policemen had reached there on the complaint of locals about drunkards creating ruckus.Chandauli CO (Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Nagar) Arun Kumar Singh on Thursday said four accused were identified and nabbed following the incident. The condition of both injured policemen, SI Dinesh Singh and constable Anil Yadav, was stable, he said, adding that investigation was in progress to know whether more persons were involved in the attack.On Tuesday night, some Holi revellers gathered near the local liquor shop in Parashuraampur and 10 youths created a ruckus, making noise and bursting firecrackers.On being alerted by villagers, local police outpost in charge Dinesh Singh and constable Anil Yadav reached the spot to check the miscreants. After pacifying the situation, the policemen were leaving the village when the drunkards returned with sticks and iron rods and attacked them. The SI suffered a severe head injury, while the hand of the constable was fractured in the attack. Villagers alerted senior officials and rushed both injured policemen to hospital, where doctors referred the SI to trauma centre of BHU in Varanasi, while the constable was admitted to a local hospital.The CO, who reached the spot with a heavy police force, engaged several teams to arrest the assailants. After carrying out raids at all possible hideouts of the assailants, four of them were arrested by Thursday.
