Varanasi: Bathing after playing Holi, two girls drowned in a pond in Fattanpur Mustafabad village under Nizamabad police station in Azamgarh district on Wednesday. According to reports, the girls slipped into deep water while bathing. Azamgarh CO (Sadar) Astha Jaiswal said the families of Anshika (14) and Shivangi (18) of Fattanpur Mustafabad not file any complaint and termed it as accidental death, so police returned after completing basic legal formalities. Witnesses said as Anshika and Shivangi slipped into deep water and began drowning, those who were present tried to rescue them. Villagers pulled both of them out of the pond and rushed them to a local hospital, where doctors declared both dead. TNN
