Vadodara: Residents of the Dandia Bazaar area were alarmed on hearing gunshots late on Thursday night. A drunk Gujarat Industrial Security Force (GISF) security guard had allegedly fired his rifle. His actions were captured on CCTV cameras in the area. Fortunately, no one was injured. Raopura police filed a complaint against the guard him for breach of the police notification and violation of prohibition laws. According to investigators, Narendrasinh Raj, 53, a resident of Bharuch, was posted in the city as a guard. He had his dinner on Thursday night and was on his way back home when the incident occurred. Raj stopped near a two-wheeler, loaded his licensed rifle, and fired shots in the air. He was so drunk he could not stand properly. One local was seen trying to wrest the rifle from him. While locals say three shots were fired by Raj, police said he discharged only one round. Police soon arrived, seized the rifle and ammunition from Raj, and arrested him. Police said they are trying to ascertain the reasons for his actions. The GISF authorities were also informed, and the force is expected to take further action against Raj.
