Gurgaon: The city experienced an unusually warm night on Friday, with the minimum temperature touching 20.7°C, the first time this season that the mercury crossed the 20-degree mark, according to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).The minimum temperature recorded at the NorthCap University automatic weather station was 20.7°C at 8.30am on March 13, around 2.6°C higher than the previous day. The reading was significantly above the seasonal average, reflecting a warming trend across Haryana.Several other parts of the state also recorded higher-than-usual night temperatures. Ambala reported a minimum of 19.8°C, Rohtak 18.8°C, Bhiwani 18.5°C, and Narnaul 19.4°C, all above their normal levels for mid-March. In contrast, Karnal recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 15.6°C, though even this was above the normal range for the period.Meteorologists said the rise in night temperatures was linked to prevailing atmospheric conditions and the absence of strong western disturbances, which otherwise help bring down temperatures during this time of the year.No rainfall was reported anywhere in the state in the past 24 hours, the IMD data showed.Experts said the trend was likely to continue over the coming days, with both day and night temperatures expected to gradually rise across Haryana.
