Uri, Aug 20: A 45-year-old dumper driver died after suffering an electric shock when the vehicle he was driving came into contact with an overhead 33-KV power line in the Rajarwani area of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.

According to officials, the incident occurred while the dumper was being unloaded and accidentally came in contact with the overhead power line.

The driver suffered a severe electric shock and was immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Uri in critical condition. However, doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.

The deceased was reportedly a resident of the Uranbuwa area of Boniyar, while his identity has not yet been officially ascertained.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further proceedings.
