Mysuru: A day after urban development minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah cancelled the allotment of sites done under the controversial 50:50 rule, JD(S) working president and former minister SR Mahesh Thursday welcomed the move and asked the minister to cancel all allotments done by Mysuru Development Authority (MDA).He said the illegality at the urban body goes beyond the 50:50 site allotment. Speaking to reporters, Mahesh said that state govt’s Wednesday directive applies to 1,100 site allotments only but the govt must also cancel the 5,000 site allotments made by the erstwhile Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) from 2019.As illegalities amounting to thousands of crores of rupees occurred in the distribution of the 50:50 MUDA sites, we have taken up the issue, he said.Meanwhile, city BJP spokesperson Mohan said the party MLA TS Srivatsa was the first to raise the issue and discussed it in the assembly. He said BJP wants the govt to cancel the distribution of 5,000 sites under the 50:50 rule from 2019 instead of cancelling the 1,100 site allotments. He also urged the govt to appoint a commissioner and a chairman to MDA, since it has been governed by officials alone.
