Nagpur: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Nagpur Regional Unit dismantled an inter-state pangolin trafficking syndicate at Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh and recovered multiple scales, total weighing 17kg. Acting on intelligence, the DRI team, under Mumbai zonal unit, apprehended 3 persons involved in the illicit trade on Sunday. The Indian pangolin (Manis crassicaudata) is protected under Schedule I of Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. “Any trade in pangolins or their body parts is strictly prohibited. The seized scales and arrested individuals were handed over to Forest Range Officer, Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, for legal proceedings,” said a source.Since 2025, DRI Nagpur Regional Unit unit has busted multiple wildlife trafficking syndicates, including those dealing in leopard skins from MP, a tiger cub poaching case in Seoni, and another pangolin scale racket in Pileru, AP.
