Chennai: Flaying DMK for participating in the tea party hosted by Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla in New Delhi, state energy and law minister R Nirmalkumar on Friday alleged that DMK had moved from a discreet alliance to direct alliance with BJP.Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Nirmal Kumar said DMK had compromised its stand of opposing BJP in a bid to protect its leaders and their “ill-gotten wealth.’’“It was DMK that first gave political legitimacy to the BJP in TN. After getting defeated in assembly elections, it has turned into a bonded labourer for the BJP to save their looted money,” he said.He dismissed the statement of DMK MP Kanimozhi that she met speaker Om Birla to speak about seating arrangement of DMK MPs in parliament. “Does she have to attend the tea party to speak about the seating arrangements in parliament?” he asked.He also sought clarity from the DMK’s leadership on delimitation. “DMK supported the anti-delimitation resolution in TN assembly, but it’s not openly expressing that they will not support the bill in parliament,” he said.He rejected criticisms over govt’s claim of attracting one lakh crore investments. “Tamil Nadu has emerged as a major investment destination. More investors are forthcoming to invest in the state, ” he said.Clarifying the govt’s position on inflated property tax calculations, Nirmal Kumar said there was no proposal to increase it anywhere.He also ridiculed the AIADMK’s protest against TVK govt over crop loan waiver and the inter-state water dispute stating that AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami organised the protest to take stock of his support base in the party.
