Hyderabad: The Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI), Hyderabad zonal unit, has provisionally attached a villa in Kokapet linked to YS Prabhu Kumar, director of Wegofin Digital Solutions, in a major online betting-linked GST evasion case. The property is estimated to be worth around Rs 20 crore.DGGI has written to the commissioner and inspector general of registration and stamps, directing that the property cannot be sold or transferred without prior approval. The action follows Prabhu Kumar’s failure to appear before investigators.Sources in the registrations department said that the attachment, issued under Section 83 of the CGST Act, 2017, is part of an ongoing probe into a syndicate allegedly offering online gaming services while evading GST.In the communication sent to the registrations department, DGGI stated that Prabhu Kumar has been identified as a “one of the masterminds in the syndicate”, and he was instrumental in routing funds through multiple bank accounts to avoid GST.The property in question is Villa No. 6 at Myscape Courtyard in Puppalaguda, Gandipet mandal, Rangareddy district. It was registered in Prabhu Kumar’s name in Nov 2025 with a declared value of Rs 6.5 crore. Authorities said the attachment aims to safeguard govt revenue. The investigation, pegged at Rs 6,342 crore in GST evasion, has widened significantly. Officials have so far identified around 177 shell companies and dummy merchant entities through which nearly Rs 23,000 crore was allegedly routed. The probe has brought scrutiny on the role of payment aggregators, gateways and banks in facilitating transactions linked to what is described as an international online gaming network. Wegofin and its founders, YS Prabhu Kumar and Vennapusa Rajasekhar Reddy, have been named in the case. Investigators allege the company enabled transactions for banned gaming apps using non-KYC-compliant accounts and fake invoicing to mask money trails and evade GST.
