The rain is likely to continue

Kolkata: The deep depression that was causing frequent rain spells has moved away from the region. However, the monsoon trough persisting over parts of Bengal will continue to cause light to moderate rain in parts of south Bengal the next few days, said Met officials. On Wednesday the deep depression moved towards Chhattisgarh and hence this system will no more have a direct impact in Bengal. North Bengal will get enhanced rainfall. “We can expect partly cloudy sky with few more spells of light to moderate rain in Kolkata in the next two days. By weekend the rain is likely to reduce. Several south Bengal districts will also continue to get rain over the next two days due to the presence of the monsoon trough,” said HR Biswas, head at RMC Kolkata. This July, the city has logged 326mm rainfall against a normal of 362mm. Even as there is slight deficit, due to the surplus rain in June, the seasonal rain count is a little above normal. In June the city had clocked around 29% rain surplus. Cloudy sky and few spells of rain is expected to keep the heat at bay for now..
