Kolkata: The architect who had designed the ill-fated warehouse near Taratala that collapsed during construction and killed 16 people was stripped from the list of empanelled architects on Wednesday. Not only will the blacklisted architect be unable to practice in Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) jurisdiction, other civic bodies in Bengal have also been barred from empanelling him.Whie the architect, Supratim Choudhury, pleaded not guilty at the hearing and claimed the promoting firm had not informed him about the construction, the civic body held him guilty as he had signed the application for plan sanction but had not inspected the site.After the collapse, KMC had discovered that even a basic soil test had not been carried out at the site. The civic body blamed him for dereliction of duty and professional misconduct.
