Jhansi: Parts of Bundelkhand, including Hamirpur, Orai, Banda and Mahoba, witnessed an unusual hazy morning on Tuesday. The smog prevailed till 9 am, leaving people stunned .Visibility was very low in these areas during the morning, ranging to a few metres on the roads. Scientists and environmentalists attributed the situation to rampant climatic change conditions. Prof Amit Pal of the Department of Environmental Science, Bundelkhand University, said that over-exploitation of human resources and excessive anthropogenic activities resulted in variations in seasons and rainfall patterns, which could be the cause of this unusual smog. “Moreover, this region has an excessive water evaporation rate, and these evaporated particles may have stagnated in the tropospheric layer,” he said.Scientist at Agro Meteorology Aditya Singh also attributed the sudden occurrence of fog to temperature variations due to climate change. tnn
