Ahmedabad: After Delhi’s hotel fire tragedy, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Friday conducted surprise checks on various hotels to check if they complied with fire safety rules. As many as 37 were issued notices for deficient arrangements and violations. The highest number of hotels issued notices — 12 — were in the South Zone. Nine hotels in the Central Zone, six in the West Zone, five in the North-West Zone, and four in the South-West Zone were issued notices. Officials said that action was taken against one hotel in the North Zone. No notices had to be issued to hotels inspected in the East Zone.
