Times News NetworkKanpur: A 92-year-old man’s decomposed body was found on Friday in a locked room of a house in Anand Nagar under the Rawatpur police station area of the city. After a bad smell began coming from the house, residents alerted the police through UP-112. On reaching the location, police opened the door and went inside, where they found the body lying there.As the elderly man had not been seen for two days, his son, who lives on the upper floor of the same house, filed a missing person complaint at the police station.E Bakhsh (92), from Anand Nagar Rawatpur, had retired from the Ordnance Factory (Gun Factory) in 2003. His family consists of his son Anurag, daughter-in-law, their children, and his daughter Alka.Family members said E Bakhsh lived separately on the ground floor, while his son stayed upstairs with his family. Bakhsh had gone missing suddenly from Sunday. A wide search was carried out. Relatives also visited his brother’s home, located some distance away, yet he was not found there either.Following this, a missing person report was lodged at the Rawatpur police station on June 10. The family also looked at the railway station, hospitals, and other likely places, but without any result. In the meantime, on Wednesday night, a foul smell was noticed near the house. On Friday, when the smell became stronger, neighbours raised the matter with the son, and the police were then informed.Police who arrived inspected a room constructed beneath the house. The room appeared to be locked from inside. When the police officers applied slight pressure to the door, it opened. Inside, Bakhsh’s body was found naked on the floor and, as it was several days old, had fully decomposed.The police had the body removed, completed the panchnama, and sent it for post-mortem examination. ACP (Kalyanpur) Ashutosh Kumar said that the family stayed on the upper part while the deceased lived below. He added that the body had been in the lower room for four days, and once the smell spread, the family reported the matter. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
