Kanpur: The deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Traffic, Ravindra Kumar held a meeting at Traffic Bhawan on Saturday to review the effective implementation of the Zero Fatality District (ZFD) Phase-III scheme being implemented under a DG circular.Under the scheme, two additional police station areas in Kanpur Nagar — Sen Paschim Para and Kalyanpur — have been identified and included.Officials were instructed to prepare a special action plan for both areas to reduce road accidents, ensure effective compliance with road safety standards and minimise fatalities.While briefing the Critical Corridor Team, the officer directed that accident-prone spots (black spots) in the identified police station areas be closely analysed and necessary corrective measures taken.He also directed officials to ensure strict compliance with road safety norms and conduct regular enforcement drives against violations such as non-use of helmets and seat belts, overspeeding, drunk driving, wrong-side driving and other traffic offences.Additional deputy commissioner of police (Traffic) Kapil Dev Singh and other officials were present at the meeting.
