Mysuru: Karnataka State Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority vice-chairperson Pushpa Amarnath Thursday said the Dasara sports meet is one of the best platforms, especially for girls and rural students, to showcase their skills. She was speaking after inaugurating the district-level meet at Chamundi Vihar stadium, jointly organised by the district administration, zilla panchayat, department of youth empowerment & sports affairs and the Sports Authority of Karnataka. Amarnath said 150 achievers from each taluk participated after performing in taluk- and hobli-level meets. Sports, yoga and meditation keep students physically fit, improve concentration and help them perform better in studies, she said. She asked officials to ensure basic facilities, adequate water and healthcare for participants. Amarnath said state and Union govts initiated measures to promote sports, literary and cultural activities among rural students and youths. About 440 Bharath Jodo youth organisations were constituted in Mysuru district. She said the state govt is also planning youth panchayat guarantee committees at the village level.
