Mysuru: Dasara Wrestling Committee has proposed using video analysis for controversial refereeing decisions during the Dasara wrestling competition. L Nagesh, ASP Mysuru and deputy special officer of the Dasara Wrestling subcommittee, said the proposal to introduce video assistant referee (VAR) was discussed at a consultation meeting. “We mentioned the same even in the wrestling-related tender. If any service provider is able to provide the service in the short time, we will introduce the VAR,” he explained to TOI.According to a wrestler, wrestling competitions in Mysuru have been held smoothly for the last couple of years, both during Dasara and at other championships. “But VAR is good in close fights,” the wrestler said.According to the organisers, more than 900 wrestlers from across the state are expected to participate in Dasara wrestling this year. The pairing of wrestlers will be held on Oct 2.The competition will be held on both mat and mud this year. On Day 1 of Dasara, CM DK Shivakumar will inaugurate the Dasara wrestling competition, which will continue till Oct 17. Panja wrestling for the specially abled will be held on Oct 15.BoxDasara events to kick-start on Oct 11Dasara events will kick-start on Oct 11, ahead of the formal inauguration. According to information published on the Dasara website, the inauguration will be held between 11:50am and 12:13pm, during Dhanur lagna, on the premises of Chamundeshwari Temple, Chamundi Hills. Temple chief priest Shashishekar Dixit said the inauguration is generally held during the auspicious time and this year it will start at 11:50am. As per the schedule, Dasara sports will start at 9am and the food mela will open at 11am. CM will inaugurate the flower show at 11:30 am before heading to the hills for the Dasara inaugural event.
