Hisar: With the arrest of four accused, Dabwali police claimed to have achieved a major breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking, recovering 503 grams of heroin and 2.7 kg of opium worth about Rs 1.14 crore in two separate operations. The police also seized a car during the raids.Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Sandeep Dhankhar said the recoveries were made by teams of the CIA Staff, Kalanwali and the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC), Dabwali during special operations against drug smugglers.According to the DSP, on March 10, a team of CIA Staff, Kalanwali, led by assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Dilawar Singh, was on patrol under the Bharatmala bridge on the Dabwali–Kalanwali road when they received a tip-off that three persons were transporting a large consignment of heroin from Punjab in a car.Acting on the tip-off, the police set up a barricade and began checking vehicles. After some time, a car was spotted approaching from the Bathinda side. On seeing the police, the driver tried to turn back, but the vehicle stalled.The police team quickly surrounded the car and detained three occupants, who identified themselves as Jagmeet Singh, Malkit Singh, and Bhagwan Singh alias Fauji. While searching the vehicle, the cops recovered 503 grams of heroin packed in a black polythene bag near the gear lever.In another operation, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) Dabwali arrested a drug supplier and recovered 2.754 kg of opium from his possession.DSP Dhankhar said on the intervening night of March 10–11, the ANC team, led by ASI Ranjodh Singh, received a tip-off that Deepa Singh, a resident of Kanakwal alias Ratangarh in Bathinda district (Punjab), was supplying opium in the Kalanwali area and would arrive by train that night.The police set up a checkpoint near Takhtmal railway crossing in Kalanwali. A young man carrying an attache was seen coming from the railway station side. On noticing the police, he tried to flee but was immediately apprehended.During a search conducted in the presence of a gazetted officer, 2.7 kg of opium was recovered from the attache.
