Shimla: Eight alumni of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh, including two women, were commissioned as officers in the Army during the 28th passing-out parade of the short service commission technical courses after successfully completing their training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Gaya. The commissioning ceremony took place on March 7, marking a proud moment for the institute and the young officers. The newly commissioned officers include Lieutenant Abhishek Sharma (Chemical Engineering, 2023 batch), Lieutenant Aayush (Chemical Engineering, 2023 batch), Lieutenant Pallav Nautiyal (Electronics and Communication Engineering dual degree, 2022 batch), Lieutenant Apoorva Sharma (Mechanical Engineering, 2024 batch), Lieutenant Aabha (Electronics and Communication Engineering dual degree, 2024 batch), Lieutenant Sanchit Sharma (Mechanical Engineering, 2023 batch), Lieutenant Aditya Arora (Electronics and Communication Engineering dual degree, 2023 batch), and Lieutenant Vinay Dahiya (Computer Science and Engineering, 2022 batch).Among them, 4 officers belong to Himachal Pradesh. Lieutenant Abhishek Sharma hails from Banayat in Mandi district, Lieutenant Aayush from Upper Khera, Palampur in Kangra district; Lieutenant Sanchit Sharma from Samkar in Dhameta Fatehpur in Kangra district, and Lieutenant Aabha from Gwal Thana, Kamlehar in Palampur. The other officers represent different parts of the country. Lieutenant Pallav Nautiyal is from Garhwal in Uttarakhand, Lieutenant Vinay Dahiya from Narela in Delhi, Lieutenant Aditya Arora from Batala in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district, and Lieutenant Apoorva Sharma from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh.
