CHAIBASA: An assistant commandant of the CoBRA unit of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast during an anti-Maoist operation in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district on Sunday, police said.The explosion took place inside the Saranda forest area after an IED allegedly planted by the banned CPI (Maoists) detonated during the operation.“An assistant commandant suffered injury in the blast and is being airlifted to a hospital in Ranchi,” West Singhbhum Superintendent of Police Amit Renu said.CoBRA (Commando Battalions for Resolute Action) is a specialised wing of the CRPF trained in jungle warfare and guerrilla combat. After the blast, security forces cordoned off the area and began an extensive search operation to track down those responsible.
