Jamshedpur: The West Singhbhum police arrested a 31-year-old man from his village on Friday on charges of killing a four-year-old boy after failed sodomy attempt.Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) said that the accused, a daily wager, allegedly kidnapped the child with the intent to commit a sexual act against the order of nature with him. He bludgeoned the victim to death with a stone when the victim resisted and screamed.

On Feb 26, the boy’s mother lodged a kidnapping case with the local police station. A special team was formed by superintendent of police (SP) Amit Renu to investigate the matter.The accused was arrested from his village on Friday on the basis of intelligence inputs, technical evidence and footage captured by CCTV cameras. He has been charged under Sec 137 (2) of the BNS at present. Other charges would be added when chargesheet is filed.He has been sent to the Chaibasa jail under judicial custody, the SDPO said.The body was recovered based on the confessions and revelations made by the accused, police added.
