TNNKanpur: In a major boost to grassroots sports development, cricket has, for the first time, been included in the list of disciplines under The Sportz Hub’s Sports Promotion Scholarship/Subsidy Scheme, aimed at providing free training to children from economically weaker sections of society. With the inclusion of cricket, the number of sports covered under the scheme has increased to 10. Earlier, The Sportz Hub (TSH) was imparting training in nine sports disciplines and has already trained several children through eight batches conducted so far.According to additional mnicipal commissioner Jagdish Yadav, training for the ninth batch will commence on July 6, 2026. A total of 304 children from economically weaker sections will receive professional sports training at TSH under the guidance of qualified coaches and support staff. As many as 44 young cricket talents in the 8-18 age group will be selected. The selection process will be supervised by experts from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association and the UP Veteran Cricket Association.
