Srinagar, July 25: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Polit Bureau on Saturday congratulated students and youth across the country for their protests demanding accountability over alleged paper leaks, saying their movement reflected the strength of Indian democracy.
In a statement, the CPI(M) said the protests were driven by the determination of students and youth, supported by sections of society, despite facing “repressive measures” by authorities.
The party welcomed the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan but said it should be followed by the disbanding of the National Testing Agency (NTA), which it held responsible for repeated paper leak controversies.
The CPI(M) reiterated its demand for decentralisation of examinations and called for scrapping the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, alleging that it promoted commercialisation, centralisation and communalisation of education.
The party said unless structural reforms were introduced, issues related to paper leaks and denial of opportunities to students would continue.
The CPI(M) also urged student and youth organisations to continue campaigning for reforms concerning the future of young people.
